We have some exciting news about making upgrades to your home’s heating system as well as several other appliances. If you have older equipment, like a gas furnace or boiler, it’s probably draining extra energy each time it runs.
This not only costs you more on your utility bills, it’s harmful to the environment. You also risk having the equipment fail on you when you need it the most.
To make it easier for you to upgrade to newer, higher-efficiency appliances, New York state is currently offering rebates from NYSEG and RG&E for natural gas and electric homeowners who install high-efficiency HVAC equipment.
The qualifying equipment includes high-efficiency systems like natural gas furnaces, boilers, and Wi-Fi thermostats. You can save on high-efficiency equipment when you purchase it, and you’ll continue to save money for many years to come thanks to the energy savings.
Here are several of the rebates available through the programs:
- $250 for a water boiler (minimum AFUE of 94%)
- $150 for a furnace (minimum AFUE of 96% with ECM)
- $50 on ENERGY STAR-certified natural gas clothes dryer
- $75 for furnace or boiler tune-up
- 75$ for Wi-Fi thermostat
- $300 on ENERGY STAR-certified pool pump
To apply, first determine if your equipment qualifies for the rebate program. You must then arrange for a licensed professional to install the unit—this is where our team can provide you with the best possible service.
You then complete and submit your rebate application online (you can check on the progress of your rebate at the same site). You must submit all required information within 60 days of the installation and no later than the last day of 2022.
The equipment must be connected to a National Grid gas meter and be on firm residential gas rate SC 1 and pay the System Benefits Charge (SBC). National Grid high-efficiency equipment rebates are available for both existing gas heating and oil to gas conversion customers, regardless of the equipment manufacturer.
