Can I Change My Air Filter on My Own?
Yes! This is one of the only things we actually encourage homeowners to do themselves. Your HVAC system’s air filter is easily located in the return air ducts of your home. If it’s a disposable filter, it will need to be replaced by a new filter. If it’s reusable, then you’ll need to clean it off and place it back in the system. If you have any questions, be sure to call us!
Is Maintenance Required?
The short answer to this question is yes. While maintenance might be thought of as an optional or additional service, it’s absolutely necessary for your HVAC system. Maintenance enables your system to reach its full lifespan, retain energy efficiency, and overall work at peak performance. Without maintenance, your HVAC system could last half as long as it would otherwise.
Is It Okay for My HVAC System to Make Noises?
It depends what the noise is. If you’re hearing air gently waft through your air vents, or the clicking sound of a heater or air conditioner turn on, then it’s fine.
If your HVAC system is grinding, screeching, hissing, banging, rattling, or making any other noise that sounds concerning, then you should call us for repairs. Noises aside from the two we mentioned above, are never good!
How Do I Stop Drain Clogs From Happening?
Drain clogs are an inevitable part of your home plumbing system. You can’t really escape them. However, you can slow them down and make them a rare occurrence.
Utilize mesh screens to catch food waste in your sinks, as well as a garbage disposal to grind up any food into easily digestible material for your plumbing system. Another good thing you can do is limit the amount of FOG (fats, oils, and grease) that goes down your drain. These materials are liquid when you cook with them, but quickly cool down and become solid in your drains.
Can’t I Fix My Electrical Wires Myself?
No! Even a simple electrical fix could be deceiving. Home electrical systems contain a large amount of energy that can be dangerous to handle without proper safety equipment. Also, proper knowledge of electrical currents, insulating materials, and other technical knowledge is going to be vital for safety and efficiency. Homeowners, unless they are certified electricians, should never touch their own home energy grids.
Why Do I Need Professional Service?
Professional service brings a few great perks that homeowners sometimes forget about. For starters, many HVAC systems have warranties which can be voided by skipping maintenance or investing in amateur repairs. The moment you open your HVAC system up, you’ll void your warranty.
Professional service also makes your life a lot easier. Some homeowners think they’ll get a bargain with DIY fixes, only to spend just as much money and a lot of time on more expensive parts and tutorials. Professionals get things done quickly with components they purchase at an inexpensive rate.
